New work at London Group show on London
This is a series of photographs that are on show at The Cello factory – Waterloo from 27 Feb – 12 March
I got permission to spend a few hours in the empty swimming pool and leisure centre in lewisham to make this piece. The building is standing empty ready to be knocked down and I am interested in photographing it as it is demolished and this was the first stage in that process. These are digital prints and they could become part of a more complex instillation between drawing and knowing a space . This leisure centre has been part of my own life with my children and we have visited and swam there many times and to enter the space in its now dry useless capacity was eerie. In my research for this piece I discovered that it was the pool used in the killing scene for the film – The Long Good Friday.
