Carbon land

After documenting a forest fire near the studio 2017 I began to walk there weekly and take photos of the transition. Initially the absoluteness of the change was overwhelming and it reduced the structures to a kind of drawing itself. Colour changes from greens to orange ( the anti regardant used to put out the fire was orange coloured ) also the pine trees needles became orange. It felt apocalyptic and yet fragile and sublime.

in a way this installation became about walking through this space. The fluorescent batons enter into the work and travel through it mapping out negative spaces into the gallery spaces, creating a kind of fragile cage through which the viewer was not able to get close.
